At LaFleur, we deliver customized, holistic marketing solutions to our clients, and we take pride in the results we achieve. To consistently deliver outstanding work to our clients, we have built a work culture of excellence based on trust, respect, and understanding.
Each month we take that culture a step further by investing in our community through volunteer outings. And now, our marketing agency has been recognized as a “Good for Grand Rapids” company by Local First.
What Is Good for Grand Rapids?
Good for Grand Rapids is a program sponsored by Local First — a Grand Rapids organization dedicated to diversity, inclusion, and equity that promotes “the development of an economy grounded in local ownership that meets the basic needs of people, builds local wealth and social capital, functions in harmony with our ecosystem, and encourages joyful community.” The group includes a wide range of local businesses such as breweries, restaurants, engineering firms, housing developers, and marketing agencies.
The Good for Grand Rapids initiative is designed to unify local companies that are dedicated to creating meaningful change in our town and across West Michigan. They’re especially interested in companies developing quality careers, building strong communities, and working for healthier communities throughout the Great Lakes region. Participating companies receive helpful resources and tips regarding best practices for sustainability and social good.
The program provides numerous opportunities throughout the year for companies who want to be more active in the community, including educational workshops and networking events. They also offer a free online assessment that gives companies a baseline understanding of the impact they’re making in their community. This 60-minute test empowers businesses to measure their current best practices related to their staff, their community, and the environment. And it provides a springboard for growth by comparing their existing efforts to peers across the country.

LaFleur Marketing Is Improving the Greater Grand Rapids Area
Community involvement is one of our company’s core values, and we have made a concerted effort to improve our local community. Each month, a LaFleur team member proposes a project they feel especially passionate about and schedules a time and place to contribute. These events typically take place during work hours, which makes it easy for employees to participate without having to compromise time spent with their families.
We recently polled our staff about what they enjoy most about working at Lafleur Marketing, and almost every member of our organization mentioned our community involvement efforts, which is a testament to what we’re building as a team. We believe in Grand Rapids. We believe in one another. And when we work together, we know we can achieve remarkable things for our clients and our community.
Some examples of our volunteerism include:
- Visiting and dining with seniors
- Building websites free of charge for non-profit organizations
- Donating blood with the American Red Cross
- Feeding the homeless and less fortunate
- Helping to build local parks
- Farming community gardens
- Working with Slow Food West Michigan at a family farm to modify a shipping container to use as a primitive off-grid compost processing and storage facility
As we continue to grow and mature as a company, we will be looking for even more community involvement opportunities that bring us closer as a team and make a real difference in West Michigan and beyond.
